Welcome to Horbury Academy
Welcome to Horbury Academy’s website. Now let me tell you a little bit about us before you navigate our pages…
- Horbury Academy is a mixed, 11-16 academy, situated on the outskirts of Wakefield. We were judged as Good by Ofsted in January 2016 and became part of the Accord Multi-Academy Trust later that same year, along with Ossett Academy, Accord Sixth Form College, Middlestown Primary Academy and Horbury Primary Academy.
We are immensely proud of our academy, staff and students and strongly believe that all students are entitled to experience the full breadth of education; reflected through our curriculum model that encourages learners to study a broad range of subjects. From securing academic success to securing success in extra-curricular activity, our staff are fully committed to ensuring that all students make the most of their time at Horbury Academy.
Alongside our extensive curricular and extra-curricular offer, we provide excellent pastoral care for our students; tailored to their individual needs. We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that our students feel fully supported during their time at the academy, allowing them to achieve their very best.
Visitors frequently comment on our calm, supportive and friendly atmosphere. I hope our website allows you to glimpse a part of this.
"We want all our students to reach for the stars."

There's never been a better time to appreciate birds feeding in the garden! Try making your own bird feeder using just a four-pint milk bottle and felt tips to colour the plastic. You could even glue paper, feathers or leaves to your feeders! #trysomethingnewthursday https://t.co/Wk4acBytaV

Most parents can remember building a den as a child, usually with nothing more than a sheet.... Let your child’s imagination run wild as they pretend to go camping... Will you use some sheets and upturned chairs? Fairy lights? Cushions? So many options…so much time! @accordmat https://t.co/2FUhi1Kg7B
