Horbury Academy Open Evening 2019

Horbury Academy Open Evening 2019

This year, our annual Open Evening is set to take place on Wednesday 2nd October, between 5.30pm and 8pm, targeted at parents of students currently in Years 5 and 6.

This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your children to come and see what makes Horbury Academy so special and why we are so proud of our students. You will have the opportunity to see the fantastic facilities and resources in our state of the art building and gain an understanding of the opportunities that are available for your child at Horbury Academy.

The transfer from Primary to Secondary education is one of the most important stages of your child’s education and we place great importance on making sure that this transition is as smooth as possible and that we build a successful partnership with you for the years ahead.

On the evening, there will an opportunity for you to attend a presentation from the Principal in the Main Hall. There will be a choice of two presentations for you to attend; at 5.45pm or 6.45pm, which will run for approximately 20 minutes. Either before or after the presentation you will be able to tour the rest of the Academy using our student guides or following the map of the Academy in the programme.

The evening will give you many opportunities to see our staff and students in action, to participate yourselves, and to discuss life at Horbury Academy with staff and current students.

Students may only attend Open Evening if accompanied by their parents, unless they are taking part in one of our departmental activities. Any student taking part in an activity will be given a separate letter outlining the arrangements for this.

Finally, parking is always problematic as we have very limited space to park on the Academy site. Can I therefore suggest that if you live within walking distance you may be better to walk. If you do need to travel by car, please can I ask that you park considerately towards local residents.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Open Evening and hope that you have a very enjoyable experience!

The Accord Multi Academy Trust is an educational charity established in September 2016 that is currently made up of four academies who were the founding members of the Trust. In September 2016 Horbury Academy and Ossett Academy & Sixth Form College came together, moving away from their stand-alone Trust status and were joined in December 2016 by Horbury Primary Academy and Middlestown Primary Academy.

The overarching vision for the Trust is to work in one ‘Accord – celebrating the differences of each academy through strong collaboration in order to inspire all members of our learning community to be the best that they can be.
