Maddison’s short story success

13/03/2020

Well done to Year 7’s Maddison who is to be awarded a £10 book voucher after being declared the winner of a competition which ran throughout the region by Veritas Education.

The competition, held in conjunction with World Book Day, was entitled ‘Short and Tweet’. Entrants were asked to write a short story as a tweet, using no more than 280 characters.

Maddison’s entry is as follows:

The Key

I had looked everywhere.

It was nowhere to be found.

My heart was beating like a colossal drum under my cold, snow covered skin as I caught a glimpse of shimmering frost covered gold.

I quickly turned my head to see the beautiful legend lying there in front of me. THE KEY!

LRC Manager, Mrs Waters, said: “We’re very proud of Maddison and her impressive entry! Her story has now been passed on for shortlisting. If successful, she could have her story recorded by a guest celebrity reader, or turned into a short film. Fingers crossed!”
