Parents and Carers
At Horbury Academy we have a Dyslexia Hub, offering a screening process which can identify dyslexic traits and indicators of Irlens Syndrome (visual stress).
As an Academy, we are unable to diagnose dyslexia, but where traits are identified through our screening process, we can offer advice in the form of Reasonable Adjustments for the learning environment and one to one and small group intervention where necessary.
Our referral process in easy, you can simply contact Mrs Farrell who coordinates our dyslexia provision at firstname.lastname@example.org and request a screening for your son/daughter.
Referrals can be made by a parent/carer, a member of the Academy staff or students can self-refer by calling in to the Dyslexia Hub to speak to Mrs Farrell.
We also run a student dyslexia support drop–in session in our Dyslexia Hub, every Wednesday to Friday, 2.45pm to 3.45pm, to which students can come along and find out how we can assess if they have any dyslexic traits, or for advice on ways to help them to use their strengths to overcome any weaknesses.Guide for Parents and Carers
