Curriculum Overview

Curriculum Statement

Key Stage 3

We operate a three-year Key Stage 3. In Years 7, 8 and 9 all pupils study English, Maths, Science, a Modern Foreign Language, History, Geography, RE, Computing, PE, Art, Design and Technology, Drama and Music.

At the heart of our curriculum is the promotion of Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education, including British Values and sex and relationships which is delivered through daily PSCHE lessons.

Key Stage 4

Key Stage 4 comprises Years 10 and 11. During Year 9, pupils select optional subjects which are studied over two years and additional support is provided in English and/or Maths subject to the pathway they are on. The curriculum is designed to allow the academy to focus more time on the core subjects in Year 11 and offer more intervention to targeted pupils to improve their core attainment.

We offer a wide range of subjects and qualifications which will cater for all pupils’ needs, from applied courses to more academic courses. Pupils will follow a course that best suits their abilities, which could include GCSEs, BTEC or Cambridge Nationals.

Pupils select either Geography, History or a language, with some pupils studying two of these where appropriate. We design our curriculum around each individual child and it is, therefore, a bespoke curriculum.
